Could you try launching Tableau Prep as an administrator (right-click on the shortcut and select Run as an Administrator).
Have you also restarted your computer after installing the driver ?
Hi Gerhard, did you put the information on tnsnames.ora?
sure i did. It's our Data Warehouse and, as i mentioned above, i can access the DWH through Tableau without any problem. I only get the connection-error within Tableau Prep ....
i tried to run it as an administrator right before, but i comes up with the same error. And i did restart after installtion, i deinstalled and reinstalled it several times, but it always comes up with the same error.
i forgot to mention, i've tried also to get a connection to a different Oracle-DB with the same results.
I have the same issue.
- Checked that it is the correct driver (Prep, version 2018.1.2)
- Restarted after installation
- oci.dll is in place.
- Tableau desktop can connect to the same DB no problem.
Has there been any update on this?
Just a note: My issue was resolved by installing the Oracle Instant client version 2_1 and pointing my ORACLE_HOME environment variable there.
Thanks to the support team
Are you use windows 10? If yes, what's the build of Windows 10?
I have the same problem, but in the windows 10 build 16299 works fine, but in the buil 17134 didn't work.
I tried pointing to my ORACLE_HOME and nothing result.
I am also facing same issue, do you (Gerhard Graf) guys find any solution?
Tableau Prep 2018.1.2
Installed Tableau prep 2018.1.2 Oracle Driver.
Restarted machine still get the same "Download Driver" error.
i think, it has to do with multiple installations of Oracle drivers. In my case, i've instaled 32bit and 64bit. My solution was to install windows completely new. After that, Tableau Prep is also working.
Gerhard Graf Thank you for your reply.
In My environment we upgraded Oracle client 32 bit to 12.2.0 from 12.1.0 and Windows Build 15063 then the Prep (2018.1.2) is working.
This may help others who are facing similar issue.
