Very difficult to provide a soulduiton without seeing the twbx work book and the calculations you are trying to recreate it is true that tableau and excel could have different levels of precision BTW Excel is cell based and Tableau is database oriented and while the formulas look similar they are not the same

It will depend on the data and how you are placing the row/column shelf. Can you provide sample data or .twbx file to better understand the issue?

So my Excel gives the same as Tableau!
Your Excel is the wrong one as it has 3 decimal places, and you've asked for 2! I suspect you don't have "autocalculations" turned on in Excel. Despite any quibbles I may have with Excel, I don't doubt that it can do a round function correctly (some one would have spotted it in the last 28 years! ...yes Excel is 28 years old this year!)

sudheer.kumar.5 May 3, 2018 9:22 AM (in response to Simon Runc)Hello Simon,
I am also getting the same value in Excel and Tableau. The number before rounding 1424.147 after rounding 1424.15. I've attached it wrongly.

Troy Simmons May 3, 2018 10:00 AM (in response to Jim Dehner)thanks everyone for the replies. i more or less needed just a reason why they could be off a bit. i know that rounding and then doing calculations will tinker with the numbers slightly. Especially if i continue to create calculations off those calculations. Thank you again!

Simon Runc May 3, 2018 10:06 AM (in response to Troy Simmons)Yes...rounding a number and then performing a calculation on it, (might) yield different results to performing a calculation and then rounding the answer.
