    Data Sources- Credit Union?

    Jessica Waydelis

We are working on a project to help simplify and automate more of our data process, we are looking into a company to help us build a data warehouse, but I have to do some research before we cross that bridge!

I was looking to see if any one has worked with the following sources and had any luck automating or making it easier then exporting to excel!

      • Constant Contact
      • CUNA Mutual- Credit Union Insurance
      • Touché Analyzer- Credit Union MCIF from Finastra
      • Touché CRM-  Credit Union MCIF from Finastra
      • Meridian Link- Credit Union Application software
      • Unidata
      • CUBUS- Credit Union e-Statements
      • Shortel

If anyone has any insight on any of these companies I would love to chat more!

      Thank You!

          Hi Jessica,

There are possibilities of integrating the data from discrete sources you have mentioned in tableau and generating a dashboard. To name a few ways of integrating data:

          1. web data connectors in tableau
          2. Google analytics integration with tableau
          3. embedded dashboards.
          4. Data blending
          5. Data prep tool
          6. integrating javascript api with tableau.

Data automation part of your question:

tableau extracts can be used to get up to date data (oltp)  data.

          hope it helps,

          BR,

I have not worked with these sources, but my question would be, "What is the database behind each of them and do the vendors allow you access to the data?

Thanks Tim, any ideas would help! We have a gap in knowledge for how to automate using some of the methods that were suggested above and from what I read in articles, I was hoping someone had used something before so we had a starting point, I listed the sources again!

You’re getting closer. Even web based applications like the CU’s have a database behind them. For those that are SQL, are the Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, MySQL. You are going to have to get these details from the vendors. If you look at the data connections available in Tableau, they are vast. You just need to know what the backend sources are in order to get good answers.

                  Hi Jessica,

Whether it is unstructured data or structure data or embedded analytics the data can be pulled into tableau there are numerous possibilities to do so.

Automation is a different thing all together, how we do it.

Using ETL tool or programming stuff like java or python.

Existing landscape needs to be studied and then automated.

                  Hope  it helps.

                  BR,

Thank you everyone for the ideas and insight! We are looking to have a third party come in and help us, we are lacking knowledge on these topics internally!
