# Compounding Average from week to week

Hello,

I am trying to create a bar graph that displays the average days it takes to accomplish a task. For example, The first week of January it takes an employee 2 days to accomplish a task, the second week of January it takes 5 days, but on the graph it is displayed at 3.5. So, (2+5)/2 weeks.

How could I create this calculation in Tableau?

Thanks!

Kelly

HI Kelly

Could you please attach sample data (packaged workbook = **.twbx is alwasys the best).

The solution is completely different according to on the data you have.

Thanks,

Without a sample of your work, it is hard to help, but maybe this will set you on the correct path.

Hi

here are a couple of ways

this will create a running total of the value and divide by the count

this is a table calculation that will thak an average over a fixed period (if you know the period - I used 6 in teh example)

either would return this
