# Issue with Success Rate Percentage

Hi!

I have database of of lets say 1000 students. Of those students about 25 percent took the intro math class. I created a math metric for it that has three numbers: Null: number of students who did not take class, 1: Students who passed the class, 0: students who failed the class.

I am trying to find a way to create a pie chart that shows me the total students in 1 and 0 while showing their total percentages. So of the 250 students who took the course, 65 percent passed. I created a second metric that is supposed to do that. I did

SUM([Success]) / count([Success]) and it is giving me the below numbers. How else do I make it show up? I want to show the success percentage rates over time.

I think you just need to make the field controlling your label to be a Table Calculation.

Because right now, you are using CNT(MTH151...), it will simply return a count of records as the text label. While you have formatted the display of those counts as 0.00%, they are still just counts of the records in each partition.

You can change that green pill in the Text Label to be % of Total. Table Calculations basically allow you to "involve figures from other partitions of the display" in your calculation. Since you really want pie slice A to be labeled with A / (A+B), you need to allow the records in the B pie slice to "be available" to the records in the A pie slice.

This article might be a little outdated, but explains how the % of Total table calc works.
