Could you attach a packaged workbook with sample data?
I was thinking about it, but it is on an SQL statement, so I cannot do that and I was thinking that it is just a parameter. I am not sure how would publishing it help you answer the question :/. Thanks anyway
You could create an extract and attach the workbook. It would give us a context and help us to reproduce the problem and see what's wrong.
Also note that Parameters are static, they default to "Current Value" so what ever the date value is assigned to "Current Value" at the time of publishing, the parameter would always default to that particular date.
My question is more technical than practical. I knew Parameters are static in the way that when you 'Add from Field' and this is a date field, for example if you did this last week, today the latest date in the parameter will be last week even though the date field that was used has updated, right? So now you are telling me that if I create a Parameter that has no field attached to it, once I have Typed in in tableau desktop a specific date, this date cannot be changed in the published version, although the Parameter field is visible and you can Type in and pick from it like a calendar?
How can I then use a Parameter in my SQL statement and be able to filter my data before I load it for a specific date?
By the way I tried to make a packaged workbook but since it is with an SQL statement it wants the usernames and passwors, so I cannot share it. But this is the idea in a simple SQL:
WHERE created_date >= <Parameters.Start Date>
AND created_date <= <Parameters.End Date>
How Can I pusblish this Workbook and make it available for the customer to change these Start and End dates ?
