Would like to understand how you're replacing the data in your spreadsheet. Are you replacing the excel workbook with a new one every month? Or do you replace the data? In either case, the naming of file (excel workbook), individual worksheets within the excel workbook and column names matter.

I've had problems with Tableau recognizing the correct column type on Excel worksheets. When you update the data, what is happening in your workbook? Are you getting errors on your data fields? What do you do to fix it?
Sorry to hear it's not working for you. Would you be able to attach the workbook with 2 different sets of sample data? Let me see if I can reproduce the problem.
