matching second field to first field

I'm a new user on Tableau Desktop 10.5.2.

I watched the Second Purchase Date tutorial this weekend, and I'm trying to select the Ship Mode that matches the respective Order Date.

I'd like to have the 'first' Ship Mode in a column following the First Order Date, and the 'second' Ship Mode following the Second Order Date WITHOUT having multiple rows for each Customer ID.

My background is SQL, and in my mind, I want to 'SELECT Ship Mode WHERE Order Date = First Order Date.'

I've tried lookup, null exlusion, and field duplication, all to no avail.

      Any thoughts?
