# Flip Marks Shape w/ Data

Hi, I have a dashboard showing counts of segmented contacts and growth rate for each segment (see attached). I've setup the workbook to display a green triangle when positive and a red triangle when negative, I just can't figure out how to make the triangle flip to the proper direction green / up and red / down. I figure I need a secondary calculated field but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any solutions?

Thanks for your time,
Matt

Just like colors you can make the shapes conditional based on calcs as well.  Use your calc on the shapes mark as well as the color mark and pick the down arrow (which you can color) for negative.

Thanks for the reply John,

I should have explained that I don't have a calc on color or shape. Color is setup as Red-Green Diverging under "Edit Colors > Advanced" with -100% displaying red and +100% displaying green. Would you be able to share a code I could implement to make the flip function work as a calc?

Thanks again,

Matt

In reference to the last post, please see screenshot attached.

You can create another discrete form of the calc to a discrete dimension and say if [measure] = -100% then "X" elseif  [measure] = 100% then "Y"   else "Z"  end     Use this calc on your shapes mark.

The [measure] I'm using is running through a Percent Diff Table Calc to display growth rate. When growth rate is positive, the mark displays green, when negative it displays red. How do enter the table calc as a measure within a calculated field? I think this is the piece that's hanging me up. The rest of the IF/THEN makes sense.

Maybe all you need to do is place the same calc field on detail - change it to discrete (blue) then move it to shapes.
