Did anyone see server view render time improvement after enabling 'Pre-compute workbooks viewed recently'? Finally I am able to see 30-40% render time improvement for views using extracts, which is huge.
The tip is to make Data Connection dump (see the screenshot below for the setting) longer enough so you do not end up with warm-up cache and dumping cache. Details on how it works @ Tableau 10.3 and 10.4 new feature demo for admins
Can you explain why you chose balanced? We use "refresh less often". Is there a benefit to balanced?

Good question Jeff. If I use 'Refresh less often', I do not know how often server dumps the cache. When users ask why their workbook data not refreshed while data source refreshed, I can't give exact answer. On the other side, when I use 'Balanced', I am able to set specific cache dump duration so I know how server behaves, and I am able to optimize the cache during to balance the render perf vs data freshness. For example, we used to use 1 hr, later on 12 hrs and now 24 hrs after enabled cache warm-up feature and custom program to dump the cache more often for live connections only.
We use Tableau Cloud Hosted version. I can't seem to locate this option. I assume it is hidden behind some tab somewhere in the Server UI?
