# Limit Workbook to only show 5 dimensions

Hi All,

How do I limit my workbook to only show 5 attributes?

H
Lets say I have Subject as the dimension. I have around 300+ subjects available.
But in my workbook I only want to see 5 subjects based on rank
Thanks!

You can use sets. Create a top 5 set and place it on filter shelf. Now if you drag drop subject dimension on the filter shelf and use it in quick filter, only 5 options will be available and not the entire 300. That's because sets execute before dimension filter

Hi Camz,

You need create calculation and use it in filter. Check the thread below.

• ###### 3. Re: Limit Workbook to only show 5 dimensions

what if it has multiple measures?

Lets say dimension is Subject

how can I get only 5 Subjects with consideration of rank based on Grade, Price and Quantity?

• ###### 4. Re: Limit Workbook to only show 5 dimensions

1) Create a parameter with 3 fields Grade,Price,Quantity

2) Create a cal field

elseif[Parameter]="Price" then [Price]

elseif[Parameter]="Quantity" then [Quantity]

3) Then you  dragdrop subject and the calc field besides each other and use rank() func and then filter to only show ranks 1 to 5

• ###### 5. Re: Limit Workbook to only show 5 dimensions

your item #2, does that mean it will consider the 3 dimension. or this for each dimension then you rank?

• ###### 6. Re: Limit Workbook to only show 5 dimensions

Do you want to rank as below as per the measure selected. This will give top 5 states (different states will be retrieved according to what measure is selected)

solution attached (10.3 version)

• ###### 8. Re: Limit Workbook to only show 5 dimensions

Hi saurabh.c.0, i understand your solution but how do I implement where it considers the three dimension then rank them rather than rank them per dimension.

Meaning I want the ranking to be based on the three dimensions.

if California has different ranks for each of the 3 different metrics, how can you give it unique ranking.? can you paste  expected output view ?
