I have some really annoying question by setting up Tableau. Our server only accepts requests to the MySQL-Port from the IPs in the Whitelist. I have added all the Tableau IPs to this whitelist. But by setting up the data source in Tableau Desktop, my local computer wants to directly connect to the MySQL server and our dynamic IP is not in the whitelist. So the request always fails.
So there are my two questions:
1. Is there no way to connect from Tableau Desktop over the IP of Tableau Online?
2. Als Alternative: Is there a way to connect MySQL from the Tableau Online Website?
Thanks for you help!
You've answered to yourself.
You should have a copy of Tableau Desktop installed
on a host having an IP from your whitelist.
Either you'd get a static IP for your local host (subnet),
or it could be a virtual machine somewhere (on AWS may be).
