This is currency reporting format ( Out of Box feature) . I am looking for accounting format ( standard for financial data reporting ) like
Is there a way to align ($) to left and numbers to right ?
Keeping a standard spacing in custom format will not work as numbers would look like this.
I have the same question. To further clarify, what Excel is doing is aligning decimals AND dollar signs. The dollar signs have a dynamically repeated " " (a space) between them and the leading number. In Excel, this can be created by using the following number format (which I just copied after converting cells to the Accounting format):
_($* #,##0.00_);_($* (#,##0.00);_($* "-"??_);_(@_)
While the "_(" and "_)" may not be necessary, the "* " (asterisk then space) is critical. According to the Microsoft article about custom number formats:
To repeat the next character in the format to fill the column width, include an asterisk (*) in the number format. For example, type 0*- to include enough dashes after a number to fill the cell, or type *0 before any format to include leading zeros.
However, when Tableau does not follow this functionality. It creates only one space.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
