    Guest User and Security

    Lewis Wong

My company wants to embed some Tableau dashboards on a customer portal, which is hosted on another server than Tableau Server. Guest users can view the dashboard via the portal.

There are few questions about security:

1/ When embedding the dashboard, the url of the Tableau Server can be found by viewing the source code.

      e.g. <script type='text/javascript' src='http://Tableau Server path/javascripts/api/viz_v1.js'></script>

      Can I hide the url?

2/ The dashboard is live connected to our database (Oracle). I am worried that some guest can obtain confidential information about the database. (e.g. authentical details, connection details, etc.)

What information can they obtain? Can I hide the connection information?

3/ Can javascript API or other API get data from Tableau and then pass it to the customer portal (instead of directly embedding the views) such that 1/ & 2/ be solved?

My focus is to prevent our customers from getting any of our company data.

      Thank you very much!
