Are you familiar with TABCMD?
When using tabcmd refreshextracts with a data source - it needs to be a published data source - one that is not included as part of a workbook.
You'd want to do the following:
Publish your datasources to Tableau Server
Update your workbook to use the published data sources, instead of the ones that are included in the workbook
Use tabcmd to refresh the published data sources, and your workbook will automatically get the updated data

I can make your life easier.
The best part is that you are using SQL server and using SSIS packages data refresh can be automated.
The approach you have to follow is that you have to publish your data creating an extract to the Tableau server and then connecting your dashboard to that Data source. You can easily replace your current data source with that.
After that using SSIS packages you can refresh your dashboard as soon as data is available in the view,

Not really. I know of them but haven't played with them yet. Guess I will have to give them a try.
I'll have to talk to our Data department for that. I don't have access to create SSIS packages here- it is a totally different department. Will see what I can do though.
