# Rounding Decimals

I need help rounding my decimals to the nearest hundredth (or tenth). If you look in the image below, the CMS that is set to Waiting is at 0.00%. If it was truly at 0%, then it shouldn't appear on the chart. So I looked at the actual number for it and it is 0.0017%. Tableau is set to only two decimal places, so it's cutting the last two digits off, rather than rounding them to the nearest hundredth.  How can I round all of these to the nearest hundredth?

Hi

did you try a round function           Round(value,2) for 2 decimal places?

You should be able to click on the sum(# of records) on your row shelf and then go to format and change the precision.

oh, of course, Jim Dehner is more accurate if you're looking for the round function.  Sorry, I may have misread it.

I would right-click on the data item and select format.

Then in pane section, I would change the rounding.

Jim, I'm not very good with calculations. How and where would I add Round function to convert my onscreen values?

@Jeff/Arvindgarg - Thanks for the replies, but I am wanting to round the nearest two decimal places, not simply show only two decimal places (it's currently displaying that way).

Tableau is already rounding the value to the nearest hundredth, .0017 rounds down to .00; it would need to be at least .005 to round up to .01.

Yes, I suppose that's accurate. l was thinking that if it was at 0%, it shouldn't show, but I guess it will, since it technically meets the criteria for display. Thanks for pointing that out Todd.
