Storage occupied during Tableau Extract refreshes

    Yusuf Hassan

A known fact is that Tableau Extracts consume a lot of storage.

      1. How much of that storage is occupied locally i.e. the machine where my database / warehouse is hosted?
      2. Does Tableau create all the extracts locally and then transfers the extract to display the data on Tableau Online or there's a partial computation locally and partially at the Tableau's end?
      3. If there's a partial execution, how much % of processing in terms of storage is done locally and how much at Tableau's end?

It's important for me to understand this because I'm planning to horizontally scale our warehouse and the storage occupied by Tableau Extracts is still a grey area for me.
