1. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Hari Ankem Dec 11, 2017 10:04 AM (in response to Raad Gooops)Can you provide the data files for 1/2 stocks so that we can see how the data is structured?

3. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Hari Ankem Dec 11, 2017 11:20 AM (in response to Raad Gooops)Would something like this help?
You can select one or more stocks, select the metric for comparison over the required period.
Note: I manipulated the data for stock 1 and saved it as stock 2.
You can manage with 1 data source, and do a union of the data files as shown below.

Stock Prices.twbx 135.9 KB

Vishnu Sekhar Dec 11, 2017 12:20 PM (in response to Raad Gooops)1 of 1 people found this helpfulHi
You can either apply Union as Hari mentioned above or you can use blend option. I would recommend the union option. You don't need to have separate data sources for each csv as it will be an overhead to maintain and also limits the analysis you can perform.

Raad Gooops Dec 11, 2017 1:26 PM (in response to Vishnu Sekhar)Thanks for that Vishnu, so would a join be useful amongst the multiple data sources? What functionality/analysis will I be limited to perform if I do it this way?
Thanks for the help guys

6. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Hari Ankem Dec 11, 2017 1:32 PM (in response to Raad Gooops)If you have too many files, I wouldn't recommend a join. Also, in your case, I am wondering what you will achieve with a join since it will only add new columns and not add new rows for a stock.

7. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Raad Gooops Dec 11, 2017 1:33 PM (in response to Hari Ankem)Brilliant, I really appreciate the effort you've gone through. Will managing the data files and using join's be applicable for say 5-6 data files all of which are set up in the same way?
Thanks again!

8. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Hari Ankem Dec 11, 2017 1:35 PM (in response to Raad Gooops)I don't think joins will work for you. As mentioned above, you should have a set of rows for each stock, and not 1 set of rows for all the stocks.

9. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Raad Gooops Dec 11, 2017 1:42 PM (in response to Hari Ankem)So a Union of the multiple data sources will be more applicable then?

10. Re: Multiple data sources, or one unified one
Hari Ankem Dec 11, 2017 1:44 PM (in response to Raad Gooops)Yes. I have attached a 10.2 workbook and screenshots of what can be done. You can explore with your data files.
