# Survey Results - Comparing Qtr 1 to Qtr 2 (Tableau 10.1.4)

I have survey data (exported from Survey Monkey) for to quarters Q1 and Q2.  I want to compare in percentage the difference between FY18Q2 and FY18Q1. I’m attaching the workbook.

For Q1, it should show me for example a difference of +5.31% (for dissatisfaction), and -5.31% (for satisfaction). How can this been done in Tableau?  I would want to
graph it afterwards, or at least have up and down arrows to show the difference. Can you guide me on this?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi

Great question -

I am on a different version so I will walk you through 1 possible solution below

first this is the result

To get there determine the total number of responses by questions (this is ALL responses not just the sat/dis-sat groups

Next calculate the % of responses for each question as

Then the percent change - note this is a table calculation

Edit the table calc as shown below

BTW yesterday there was a webinar in this topic - you can find the video posted - look in recent posts and search survey data

Thank you so much, Jim. This is really helpful.

I have another question, if you don't mind.  How would I go about not including the N/A and NULL responses in the total number of responses?  I only want to calculate with the very dissatisfied/dissatisfied and satisfied/very satisfied.

Thanks,

Virginie

One more thing as I m trying to recreate your calculated field. How do you get the Calculation2 onto the Dashboard. I don't seem to see how you added it to the rows or columns.

Thank you for clarifying.
