I am curious about the software push by your company. Was this an update to GPO or security software on the machine. Was MS Office updated in the software push.

Hard to tell, but we have been doing a move to Office 365 as well as quite a few security updates. If I had to take a guess, it was a mix of security and MS Office updates. Just not sure what was involved.
Was racking my brain for a few days till I got it all figured out so hopefully it will help along the way if anyone else runs into that issue.
