    Number of Records

    Janet Simmonds

After joining two tables I don't see the Number of Records so I created a calculated field to represent the Number of Records Countd{patnum). I made a distinct count on the primary key patnum. Is this the correct way to calculate a number of records?

Number of records is a simple calculated field which simply sums up the value 1 inside.

So, there is no real right or wrong way to count the number of records. It just depends on what you want to count. However, you should know that COUNTD and COUNT are not the same, since COUNTD counts the distinct values of a column, while COUNT counts all the values of a column.
