Hi Bhavana Khairnar,
This might be a silly question, but have you started the RServe() instance on your remote machine, and checked that it is running?
Also, what is the status of these 4 parameters on your Tableau Server instance?:
tabadmin get vizqlserver.extsvc.host
tabadmin get vizqlserver.extsvc.port
tabadmin get vizqlserver.allow_insecure_scripts
tabadmin get vizqlserver.script.disabled
Thank you for getting back to me, yes I did start my Rserve() instance. I did not get any solution on that , I feel it might be because my tableau and R they were on different virtual machines.... but still not sure.
So I installed tableau and R on same machine. And now it's working by giving default credentials as localhost and port 6311.
"Also, what is the status of these 4 parameters on your Tableau Server instance?" About this I am not quite clear with this question ....but I have not gone to my tableau server yet... I was working on tableau desktop.
Assuming you're in a Windows environment, it could be a Windows firewall issue blocking the traffic. Since Rserve is running on a different machine from Tableau, you should check the connectivity between the 2 machines. From your machine running Tableau, ping the machine running Rserve. If that is successful, telnet from the machine running Tableau to port 6311 on the machine running Rserve.
Also, what is the error you are receiving?
Glad to hear you've made progress, Bhavana Khairnar.
Certainly it is trickier working with a remote Rserve() instance, so I would do as Brent Mathison suggests and run some tests to check that the two machines can reach each other.
Re: those Server parameters _ mentioned - yes, disregard those until you are trying to configure Tableau Server with R, my mistake.
Thanks, I'll try this for sure.
