1. Are you using Extract/Live Connection.
2. Hide the unused fields present in a report.
3. How many cores are available on Tableau Server.
Thanks & Regards,
Yes, its an extract that I'm using and have already done whatever I can from the tableau desktop point of view. I wouldn't be able to optimize it further.
I exactly don't know how many cores are there on the server, the machine in which its hosted is not in mine. How many should be there in minimum for this amount of data? I will check about the cores and let you know.
Hi Harish. Performance issues can have many underlying reasons. Have you tried yet to look at the performance recording to see what insights can be gained here. If you don't know what I'm talking about, have a look here to start: Create a Performance Recording
Please check your underlying SQL Query , See if you can work with your DBA to improve the performance .
It all depends on how well your SQL is able to retrieve the data as Jeff suggesting below please use performance recording . 2M records shouldn't be a big deal in tableau if you have an extract created.
I have been recording its performance, tableau sorting the data too many times. I have reached an extent of data optimization from SQL end, so I have to check with the tableau technical team on how to manage this data. Btw it has two filters with 1.5 million records in each.
Its 2 million records and around 1 million records in each of the two filters. I have done everything I could from tableau desktop's end.
are you able to post the performance recording or better yet your workbook? I understand if you can't do the latter.
I'm not allowed to post even the performance report here.
It just takes too much time - I'm wondering its cuz of the 16gb RAM.
I have attached the screenshot for reference, I have done everything possible from the tableau desktop side. I can't optimize the dashboard further.
