You'll love this answer from Bill Lyons: Re: Data Source affecting performance - live or extract / published or non-published
I'm not sure about your second question though... they come from your data AND the servers performances depending on what you are looking for?
Or are you looking for the locations of the Tableau Server Log Files?

2. Re: Server logs vs Postgres
Kirstin Lyon Oct 17, 2017 5:14 AM (in response to lenaic.ridinger)Hi Lénaïc
This is pretty interesting.. but I think I phrased my question wrong..
What I'm going to be doing is creating a custom admin view based on how my users are interacting with reports. I know I can connect to Tableau postgres to find out what they have been up to (as well as a lot of other great insights), but I've also started to get access to tableau server log files. There seems to be some overlap, so I'm not sure which place is the best place to go.
I'm using Alteryx for ETL, so I can combine the two together, but I just wasn't sure of the differences.
Thanks
Kirstin
