you do not need to replace your tableau to a newer version, who works there is your computer, you should try in another order with more memory and hard disk, it works
Thanks for the clue. Actually I must change the operational system because, as I´m using a 32 bit system version and there´s 4 Gb of memory ram, in order to keep running. It really helps so far.
This is a friend, I recommend 8gb of ram so that your lap can generate extractor with large amounts of data, at the end of the day the extract reduces it to 90% of its size
There are a few things that can result in an out of memory error on Tableau Desktop including the version (32-bit or 64-bit), the amount and type of data being analyzed, other programs running on the computer and what operating system being used on the computer.
For reference, these are the amounts of memory that Tableau Desktop can utilize by version:
- If you install Tableau Desktop on a 32-bit Windows operating system, Tableau can access up to 2 GB of system memory.
- If you install 32-bit Tableau Desktop on a 64-bit Windows operating system, Tableau can access up to 4 GB of system memory.
- If you install 64-bit Tableau Desktop on a 64-bit Windows operating system, Tableau can access up to 8 TB of system memory.
This comes from the resolve memory errors section of our Desktop Troubleshooting guide available here: Troubleshoot Tableau Desktop Installation
You may want to consider upgrading your operating system or Tableau version to a 64-bit computer as Alan mentioned or try optimizing your workbook's performance with this guide: http://onlinehelp.tableau.com/current/pro/desktop/en-us/help.htm#performance_tips.html
I hope this helps!
Nope -- Our docs (Troubleshoot Tableau Desktop Installation) say Tableau Desktop supports up to 8 TB of system memory. It's a lot! Most people don't find the need for that much of course, but the capability is there.
Good to know. Thanks.
