That's the default feature of Discrete and continuous, and difficult to control.
This must be very bad idea, but tried to add Grid line in between the year anyways.
Actually add very thin vertical line with area chart which looks like grid line.

thanks for your idea! The thing is, my employer wants the tick lines to be between the dates, it's like a corporate layout. Until now they have been using stata or harvard graphics for the graphs. Now they are searching for different software. I introduced tableau. So the thing with the tick lines is a must. The dates have to look like this:
' 1991 - 1992 ', if " ' " was the Tick. I think tableau is a lot better solution for such graphs but without this feature, I doubt they will use it.
I am still not sure what does this mean.
