Have you taken a look at this article?
This would allow you to apply filters to a sheet on the dashboard (for the data you want), and give you a button to download the data from this sheet, as CSV
Does this solve your problem?
All the best
As I understand, the article provides a workaround on how to export a dashboard to CSV which is greyed out by default.
However, I don't need to export a dashboard to CSV (only a simple stand alone workbook.)
I basically want to see data as well as filter selections after I click Export workbook to Crosstab (CSV file) when doing this in Tableau Server.
I am not sure I understand your question
Quick filters are applied on Dashboards (or Worksheets). This will effect the data that is presented in the sheet(s) / view(s).
Once you have applied those filters, then you want to download the data?
The Article gives you the option of downloading data from a sheet in the dashboard, where filters have been applied. which is similar to the "Export Data to CSV" option in Tableau Desktop.
However, because you have defined which columns are in the sheet that is to exported, you only get that data, and not data from ALL fields.
I dont know of a way of being able to add which filters have been applied though
Thank you. Are your screen shots from Desktop? Can you please tell if the same applies to Server?
Is it possible not to hide filter and still be able to display filter selections when exporting a worksheet to Crosstab from Server? For example, display 2014-01 from Time filter in the crosstab file
My screen shot was from Desktop, and if you click the image to see the full image, you'll see the list of Positions isn't hidden as a filter. It's just the blue position pill is hidden in the viz display via the 'Show Header' option available against the pill (click the little arrow on the pill)
I have checked on server and it works - in this example 2012 is selected, but the year isn't displayed in the table, but when I download to crosstab from server, the a year field is displayed
FYI - We're on server v10.1.1 but I'm pretty sure it works on earlier versions.
