Ah ok, does that restrict embedding the viz into a webpage? Because the viewer of the webpage wouldn't have a Tableau user license and there is no guest access?
Well, my understanding is that you can embed it but only those who have a license will be able to view it.
We have a core-based license and have people embed Tableau reports in web pages (like SharePoint). If the Guest permission is set to None or Deny, or if Guest Access is turned off for a Site, then people who do not have a registered account on the Tableau Server cannot view the report.
Hi Lucy ,
User based - Pay per user for each license ,i.e if #user's in between 200 to 250 . Choose this option. You wont loose any functionality if you choose this ,your trail should works as our license . Choose 8 or 16 core depending upon the reporting needs .
Core based - Choose this option if you have more than 300 user's who will logging through tableau server for their reporting purpose needs .
You will need to pay around 300k approximately for Core based .
If you need more info and considering serious options about purchasing please send a email to tableau support team. I am sure you will get a nice break down of costs/benefits with it .
Okay, we are planning on embedding a viz onto our internal intranet page to allow users across the office (circa 2000) ability to view. I will feed back that this wouldn't be possible on user-based, which makes perfect sense now I've thought it through.
Thanks you very much for your help!
Also to clarify, if you have any questions re: cost, I would recommend reaching out to your Tableau Account Representative. Technical Support won't be able to assist with providing cost information or quotes and your Account Rep would be the best resource there.
