# Numbers giving me upto 1 decimal

Hi,

Can anyone let me know how can i expand my numbers in the below case. You can see the numbers i have decimals upto * places. But output after 1 decimal is 0.

Whats the trick to achieve it?

I don't understand your question.   If you choose 8 decimals it should still give you 8 0's if it is an integer number. Can you show your output?

• ###### 2. Re: Numbers giving me upto 1 decimal

Out put  on the top left corner i.e 8,984.40000000.

I want the decimals points after 4 to reflect. The output in excel is

 8984.41

Hi Niranjan,

Could you please check the data type of your field whether its Numeric (decimal) or Numeric (whole)?

If its Numeric (whole) then change it to Numeric (decimal) then check.

Screenshot With numeric (decimal)

With numeric (whole)

Or you can share a mock up of your excel. Let us know if this help.

Any solution to this?

Or is it a bug?

• ###### 6. Re: Numbers giving me upto 1 decimal

Are you saying that Tableau is not reading the number correctly from Excel, or is 8,984.40000000 the result of a calculation that you are also doing in Excel which is coming out as 8984.414063 in Excel?

Niranjan--

Check your GUI and make sure you are not reading the field in as TEXT (but as decimal)

It works fine for me in 10.3.2 but I had to change the data type in the data source tab like Michael Hesser mentioned
