There may be up to 100 K cases. I need to draw a trend line chart for these Cases (1 for total Open cases, 1 for total Assigned cases, etc.) over a date period (week, month, quarter, year) . Now I am aware that I can do this if there was a date for every day the case was alive until it was Closed. But given that this is the data situation, how can I go about drawing a Trend line in Tableau? Can Tableau handle this? I can try and change the data tables too (may be build views for Tableau to connect to), but I am hoping for one that doesn't add dates for every live case. Please also bear in mind that there are many other attributes for cases like (Priority, Type, Code, etc) and their respective Start and End Dates.

Thanks for your help in advance.
