So, My user has to be windows administrator on the Tableau Server machines?
Because It is not.
Luis, site admin permission is not enough. You need to be server admin. Thanks!
No. You tableau user needs to be Tableau server admin not windows OS admin.
which Tableau server version you are using? In addition, what type of authentication you are using? Is it AD? Finally, are you using the latest Tabjolt installer from Github?
Tableau Server Version: 10.1.5 (10100.17.0203.1324) 64-bit
it is not the last one, because I think that the last one is only for 10.3
Yes, you will need that version. It worked for me when I tried against 10.1 Tableau server. I will need the network trace to see what went wrong. Please do this.
1. installer fiddler
2. go to C:\Tabjolt\config\ServerTestConfig.yaml, and change "proxyEnabled: false"=>"proxyEnabled: true"
3. run fiddler
4. launch the Tabjolt configuration app C:\Tabjolt\config.bat.
5. you should be able to see the traffic from Tabjolt to Tableau server.
6. Share the fiddler trace with me and I should be able to tell why the server is rejecting your account credential.
I will suggest you to test on other servers or accounts as well to rule out something obvious.
I have tested with two different servers and two different users.
Find attached the fiddler information for tow servers but with the same user.
I think is not relevant but after click "next" on Tabjolt I get the following SLF4 errors
C:\Tabjolt>jre\bin\java.exe -cp "bin\perfRunHarness\*" com.tableausoftware.test.
SLF4J: Failed to load class "org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder".
SLF4J: Defaulting to no-operation (NOP) logger implementation
SLF4J: See http://www.slf4j.org/codes.html#StaticLoggerBinder for further details.
Hi, I took at the fiddler trace. For the first server whose url has "pre", your user and password are wrong and the tableau server returns "<details>Invalid username or password. (errorCode=16)</details>". You will need to double check your user name and password. Perhaps, using fully qualified domain name.
For the second server whose url has "int", it seems that you tried to log in twice and failed. Then you logged in the third time and You were able to, but your server doesn't have any view.
Sorry, I sent you the traces without realize that the error messages have changed.
But the point is that after change: ...ServerTestConfig.yaml, and change "proxyEnabled: false"=>"proxyEnabled: true"
The error becomes different, and now seems that the error is because Tabjolt is not able to find the server after enable the proxy.
I am quite sure that credentials are OK all the times, due to I type them several time, also I copied it from a Notepad, and I have chechk that in ServerTestConfig.yaml are written the credential used, and they are the good ones
I have also tried with "domain\user" a with out "domain"
Without proxyEnabled I am not able to get traces on fiddler.
The LAN setting in internet options for my machine are:
I have views
have to be any especial kind of views?
About teh previous communication, I mean that
with "proxyEnabled: false" I get the error "Unable to get the top view URLs..."
and "proxyEnabled: true" I get the error "Unable to log into Tableau server..."
after you turn on fiddler, were you able to log in via browser? I just need to look at what is the server response when it says "unable to get the top view URLS"
