Hi, Yoong
Sorry I don't have 9.3. Based on Sissi's workbook, the only change is just swap the 1st and 2nd data source

5. Re: Not Show July Actual,Aug,Sept
Sissi Du Jul 19, 2017 8:58 PM (in response to Zhouyi Zhang)Thanks Zhouyi!
However, i am not able to swap the data source since actual file has MANY views that i cannot swap the data source. Is any other way to do it, eg. create a calculated field?
Thanks!
Sissi

Hi, Sissi
I don't think calculation would work because there is no such data in Actual.
Or you could add empty data row with date to the Actual one for the forecast.

HI, Sissi
I mean you need reshape your data as suggested in Actual, not anything to do with Tableau.

9. Re: Not Show July Actual,Aug,Sept
Sissi Du Jul 21, 2017 11:35 AM (in response to Zhouyi Zhang)Thank you ZZ. However, the actual problem is that both FORECAST and ACTUAL are a SQL pull. (Attached file is an excel for illustration). Not sure how to add empty data row with date to the Actual one for the forecast as you suggested?

10. Re: Not Show July Actual,Aug,Sept
Michael Gillespie Jul 21, 2017 12:22 PM (in response to Sissi Du)Sissi, you're not understanding what ZZ is saying.
Right now your primary data source INSIDE TABLEAU is the Actual table (that's what the blue checkmark means). Your secondary source is the Forecast table.
Those tables are BLENDED in your workbook pane, by using the Data-->Edit relationships dialog box.
What ZZ means is that Forecast needs to be your primary table and Actual your secondary table. You don't have to do ANYTHING to the SQL side of the problem: this is all inside Tableau. You can't get the result you want unless you change the order of those 2 data sources.

11. Re: Not Show July Actual,Aug,Sept
Sissi Du Jul 21, 2017 2:02 PM (in response to Michael Gillespie)Thanks Michael. I do understand what he said. However, the actual problem has multiple analysis view. If i swap the primary data source with actual, everything else (i mean the other dashboard view) need to be changed. I am wondering if there is any way to solve the problem by not changing primary/secondary data source?

12. Re: Not Show July Actual,Aug,Sept
Michael Gillespie Jul 21, 2017 3:49 PM (in response to Sissi Du)OK, but not necessarily!
Remember that the blend you do in the workbook is worksheet-specific. You can have the primary and secondary set up one way for this sheet, and a different way for a different sheet.i don't know how your various dashboards are set up, so that still might not work, but is it possible? It might require a re-think on your overall approach.

Thanks, Michael Gillespie
Hi, Sissi
Swapping the data sources for your example is just couple of steps since you already created the calculation fields, even you start from beginning, it won't take you long time.
And as Michael mentioned above, it will only apply to this specified worksheet only, there is no impact to other existing worksheets.
