Support for MySQL JSON Data Type

    Denis Hoctor

After a little reading on the JSON file support in 10.1, JSON Web Connector and some other bits I'm very unclear on what support Tableau Desktop has for parsing and filtering JSON data fields within a MySQL data source.

I have large data sets (250,000 up to 6 million) with primary data fields and some JSON Data Blobs. I've used CSV extraction of the primary field and completed some overview reporting.

Now I'd like to do in-depth reporting on the rich JSON (3 - 5 levels deep and 100+ attributes).

Can anyone point me to documentation and or functionality that will allow me to do this within the MySQL context? I need this for correlation to the overview reports. I'm also keen to do as much of this in the tool as possible.
