something like this:
Please find attached sample workbook.
P.S.: Please note i joined data sheet (self join) with itself to get previous year data. In join condition date condition has been used an year ago to get previous year same month data.
Tooltip.twbx 25.7 KB
It helped me a lot.
It's good to know that arrows made by Webdings or Windgdings fonts, don't work on ipad and on mobiles.
It will also not work if user has a computer where those fonts are not install.
Can you explain how to compare month to month with the previous year? And how does the tooltip logic work?
Hi thalles honorato,
Apologies for delay in reply, was caught up with few things.
I Joined Data with same dataset using Self join and added Dimensions in join condition. Also With date field did join condition with DATEADD('month',-12,DATE) to get previous year data.
If data has a record for 27-07-2017 (DATE from Dataset1)this joined with same data set with date as 27-07-2016 (Date from Dataset2).
join would be
DATEADD('month',-12,dataset1.DATE) = DATE(dataset2.DATE)
so you can derive previous year value as a column in same row.
Hope that clarify.
This is smart, but can you tell me why you do if sum(delta)<0 or >0 for arrow down or up?
I think if delta<0 should be enough. In fact when i try if sum(delta)<0 in my tableau, i got error.
Thank you very much!
I have created 2 fields for Up and Down arrows because unfortunately we can't do conditional formatting in tooltips.
so created 2 fields and marked in color green for Up arrow and Red for Down arrow.
hope that answers your query.
could you please share packaged workbook so i can look into error you are getting?
Thanks a lot for your answer, it helps, although i was asking why use sum.
Now i understand.
The error i had was when change delta<0 to sum(delta)<0, I already fix it.
If i have further questions, i will surely follow up with you.
Thank you very much!!!!
I am glad it helped you.
