Rank Each Individuals in Different Regions

Hi, All

Please see the screenshot and attachment below(that is ideally that I want to happen on my dashboard). I try to rank each individuals in different regions based on values on "Total" column. I created the calculated field called "Rank"=window_sum(rank(sum(Revenue))) (see the 2nd screenshot below) . However, this won't produce the result that I want on the 1st screenshot. Is there something wrong with my calculated field?

Thanks,

Hi Sheng,

In Tableau, you can use "Rank" as table calculation.

Then set table calculation logic.

Set "Restarting" by "Region" will help calculating the rank by region.

Hi, Shin

First of all, thanks for your quick response. Well, once you put years dimenion on the column, the rank won't work anymore.  Please see my tableau twbx attachment.

Thanks,

Sheng

Sheng,

Your data is completely different from initial excel and I'm afraid I cannot understand your goal now.

Now you attach packaged workbook, that's great. could you illustrate your goal more clearly based on your new data set.

Thanks,

Hi, Shin

Sorry for the confusion. Here is the screenshot and updated attachment. I try to rank each individual "AE" person in each region based on the total value on 2015,2016, and 2017. And ideally I want to see the result in the 2nd screenshot. However, my calculated field, "Rank"=window_sum(rank(sum(Revenue))) won't work that way.

Thanks,

Sheng

Zhong,

Let me confirm...

Your table shows "Metrics" as value which has special calculation, but your "Rank" is based on "Revenue".

Is this correct?

Hi, Shin

Yes, the "Metrics" is the calculated field that allows users to switch between Revenue and # of product sold. So the "Rank" tries to rank each individual AE in different regions based on either total revenue or total # of product sold. For example, if user pick 2015 and 2016 year, the total revenue will be the sum of revenue in 2015 and 2016 and so does for # of products sold.

Thanks,

Sheng
