I see that a case is also open with Tech Support related to this issue. One other piece of information that may be helpful is to know the expected number of rows returned for CDS views.
Also - could you clarify about the ODBC connector in use? Are you using the connection in the Data pane to SAP HANA or are you using a third party ODBC connection?

Were you able to try Jivko's suggestion by exposing the OData Service for your CDS Views then use the OData connection?
I was not able to test as we lost our HANA sandbox in the meantime. I am arranging an access to another lab in order to test.
Jeff, i am using Tableau 10.3.1 and i am able to make a successful connection to CDS view via OData. I am still exploring the limitations though. Any inputs on limitations will be appreciated.
Can you make your OData connection to be Live in 10.3.1?
My issue is that when I want to use Tableau on CDS views, that I had to make sure that the CDS view Parameters are optional or I needed to code the parameters into the CDS view definition. (Example: Trial Balance Query or GL Account Balance Cube)
The other issue I had (related to that this is an OData connection), that some cases the Cube can really large (Billing Item Cube or Sales Order Item cube) and I did not see related objects (those view which are defined as Associations) listed in the column list...
And I cannot join two CDS views in Tableau Definition either...

Richard, your findings are same as mine. Either you have to make parameters Optional or Pass them in URL. I couldn't find a way to allow users pass parameter values at Run time. Also Navigational Attributes are not available when you extract the data since they are at run time in other SAP front end tools like Analysis for Office. The alternative will be to make those associated fields available in view definition.
You can also connect to Transient Analytical query generated by CDS view using Tableau SAP NetWeaver BW connection. I tried and it works. This will support live connectivity however all Tableau-BW limitations will apply
I tried consuming CDS views via Odata services, however could you please explain how to achieve/consume like you mentioned?.. via Transient Analytical query generated by CDS view using Tableau SAP NetWeaver BW connection.
