Hello,
My Tableau workbooks are connected to Microsoft SQL Server, and I join multiple tables together needed to build reports. Recently I have been trying to get into Tableau Reader, and have tried condensing our workbooks into extracts and .twbx files that Reader will recognize. However. that forces Tableau to condense millions of rows of data and ultimately creates a file that is too unwieldy to send to my contacts. I realized that I am not using all of the data from every table I have joined from SQL - would eliminating those unused tables make my .twbx file smaller?
Thanks,
Alex Elfering
if ur using verion lower than 9.0 then its time to upgrade.
tableau after 9.0 has built an optimsed data packaging and my old file which 250MB was reduced to 120MB by smart packaging technique.
always update ur tableau to the latest to get best packaging performance.
but overall, if ur data is very big, tableau can't do much in reducing its size. try to consolidate summarize ur data to reduce its size.
