I have a pie chart with 4 slices. Without physically combining the slices, how can I make a calculation that adds the two slices? Basically I want the caption to read 63.62% (aka the sum of the percent of total of services 1 and 4) but I want the pie chart to appear exactly as it does now. I've tried to create a binary marker for services 1 and 4 but then the caption gives me a range (.1385 to .4977) where I want the sum.

Attached is an anonymized 10.2 workbook.

Hi Emilie,

You can use the Group function.

Right click [Filtered Services for Pie] -> Create -> Group.

Then replace [Filtered Services for Pie] with  [Filtered Services for Pie (group)].

Thanks,

Hi Yemeng,

In this case, the caption still reads a range rather than a sum. Is there a way to make it show as a sum of the percentages?

Hi Emilie,

Sorry I misunderstood your question, but please try the amended solution below:

1. Use the group function I mentioned above (don't replace if you want to keep the pie chart!)

2. Create a calculated field: Service  1 + Service 4

{SUM(IF [Filtered Services for Pie (group)] = 'Service 1 & Service 4'

ELSE 0

END)}

3. Create another calculated field: % of service 1 and 4

SUM([Service 1 + service 4])/TOTAL(SUM([Business Volume]))

4. Drag [% of service 1 + 4] to Tooltip

5. Insert [% of service 1+4] in your caption

Let me know if it doesn't work.

Thanks,

Yemeng
