# ELSEIF calculation showing multiple values

Hi all,

I have made a calculation to assign colours to a report based on value, percent of total. However, when I use this field by dragging it onto the colours shelf it's assigning multiple values, instead of just one. Below is another view of the data which illustrates this better - in this screenshot the actual 'percent of total' figure is the sum of the bits broken down into different colours, I have also added my calculated to the screenshot - can anyone tell me what's happening here?

Ben,

You have other dimension whose Percentage is independently calculated in same row.

Thanks,

Shin

Use percent of total logic in created object .

i.e percent of total will be sum of a1/sum of a2 then use this in newly created object(Grouping) logic.

Hi Ben,

Issue is that the color assignment is happening on you record level. Now, when you placed it on the view, it spreads it because each record has different percentages and therefore different colors on the same dimensions. Try aggregating them by getting average.  Also, change the percentage to continuous instead of discreet.

Thanks,

David

You may have something on the detail shelf causing this.

Hi David,

I'm struggling to follow this through - could you provide some more detail on how I can do this?

I think it may be my 'percent of total' calculation effecting this, unfortunately I can't share the workbook as it contains private data, but here's the calculation I am using:

And here's a screenshot of my workbook:

Hi all,

I managed to resolve this issue by making a new calculated field which summed by percentage of total, then used this field in the colour key calculation, to ensure there was only one value being applied to the colour.

Thank you all for your help!

Ben
