This is awesome Michael! I hope you're able to find a co-lead. It makes all the difference to have a group of leaders that can share responsibilities. I'll make sure we announce this at our upcoming SeaTUG too.
For anyone on the fence about joining Michael- know that you'd be joining a fantastic wealth of Tableau and life knowledge. I know for sure I could learn a lot from him! Take a look at his Public or Twitter profile if you have any doubts:).
Thanks Anthony, and thanks for posting on Twitter as well. Let's see if we get any bites. :-)
When we held SeaTUG meeting in Renton many of the people attending said they were thrilled that there was a meeting that did not require driving to downtown Seattle, so there is demand for a TUG located farther south.
That is very encouraging to hear. Hopefully some of them read this post so I can get in touch with them. :-) I'd like to partner up with someone around here to get the TUG off the ground.
I would also really like to see a group further south- there's a good number of us at the base of the Sound (I'm in Olympia) and I can't get the time out of the office to go to Seattle. Tacoma would be better for sure- or further south... .
I'm up to my eyeballs in extracurricular activities with my son for at least the next year, so I can't do more than be a member at the moment but when that settles down I'd be up for taking a more active role in the group. I'm happy to try and coordinate people down here too.
Kelly, if you work for Washington State or another government down here we now have our own group.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Good to know! Unfortunately I'm not with any government agencies- I work for WSECU (Credit Union) and though we often get confused as being part of the state government, we're not.
I totally understand the extracurricular obligations...that's why I'm looking for a partner in crime down here. :-) Do you know others in or near Olympia who would be interested in a South Puget Sound group?
There is a government TUG in Olympia but I would be interested in joining an Olympia or Du Pont TUG
I’ll put the word out in my organization and see if we can identify some other users in our area that might be interested. Any ideas for locations?

I don't travel down towards Olympia much, so the only places I'm familiar with are Lakewood (which probably has some venues for group meetings) or if we want to hang out among a lot of geese, we can meet at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. :-)
I'm down here in the Olympia area and would be interested in shortening my drive time for a TUG meeting! I work for Our Community Credit Union out of Shelton as the one and only Analyst. Kelly we need to meet!
I don't envision having the time right now to partner due to my non-profit commitments but I could lend my support if you get this off the ground Michael.
Im in Federal Way and I would definitely love to have a group in Tacoma.
What kind of information / content would you all be interested in discussing / viewing if we can get an inaugural meeting kicked off somewhere around Tacoma / Olympia? If there's only a few of us initially, we could just meet at a coffee shop somewhere and then look for a more formal venue if/as the group grows.
