Try using Relative date filter

As you've mentioned you've year and quarter string fields. Lets assume you've data like this
If so, then you can use DATEPARSE() to convert into date field.
Option1: dateparse("yyyyQQQ", [Year]+[Quarter])
Date format can be changed as per requirement. I've used custom format
Create a field to get the quarter month from your quarter field like this
WHEN "Q1" THEN "January"
WHEN "Q2" THEN "April"
WHEN "Q3" THEN "July"
WHEN "Q4" THEN "October"
Option 2 Date field: date([Quarter Month] + " 1, " + [Year])
Hope this help.
I tried that its not working. I have a chart that will show this. Year and quarter are separate fields. So when the dashboard opens it will show the last four quarters. and it will be rolling
It'll be more helpful for us If you share some mock up data in crosstab (excel, text etc) or packaged workbook (.twbx) format.
how do you attach workbook here?
