3. Re: Certificate Question
Madhusudhan Khambham Feb 19, 2017 9:14 AM (in response to Deepak Rai)I understand where you are coming from Deepak Rai. You can have all three in your extract.
These are not connection type(s) though. Correct? Donno, why this question came in the Certification ..
But, when it comes to the extracts, we do have Full and Incremental concepts/feature where in the Backend they will use some joins to get it worked (This is my understanding).
Also, I assume in the answers they will allow any one of them.
In this case i may opt Joins (Option A).
If they allow multiple options, then
i am confused and join with harris.tsr to select which one i should choose and finally opt for "A" which whether it is correct or not .
Will wait for other experts and see what they suggest.
Thanks

4. Re: Certificate Question
harris.tsr Feb 19, 2017 9:57 AM (in response to Madhusudhan Khambham)You could select multiple answers in this one. I chose all four because A, C, D are essentially a type of join and not sure why I put B as well. I thought that if you only have a blen of two data sources you still can create an extract...
I've requested the full report of the answers, I'm really curious to see what I did wrong and what I didn't.

5. Re: Certificate Question
Madhusudhan Khambham Feb 19, 2017 10:08 AM (in response to harris.tsr)Blending is not going to happen while you are extracting the data. It will happen post your extract. As far as i know. It will work in that way. \
Thanks

6. Re: Certificate Question
harris.tsr Feb 19, 2017 10:12 AM (in response to Madhusudhan Khambham)Oh ok I see. I'm not good at theory and I probably missed that. So, when you blend two sources on a field, aren't you able to create an extract? I was under the impression that I can blend the sources and the do the extract. Good to know, thanks

No, you can't blend and then extract. Blending is strictly when you have multiple data sources in Tableau (after you've connected to them) and then you want to connect. To blend (using the strict Tableau definition) you must have 2 datasources, so you can't create an extract from that. I'd have to check the cross-database join (is that what you mean by a cross-join ?) Join & Union are definite extract candidates.

sree rao Feb 20, 2017 1:58 AM (in response to harris.tsr)HI ,
All three like A C D can able to do extract ,but in the case of blending it will create the extract separate for each data set, instead of combined .
thanks
