How do I configure TNS_ADMIN variable when using LDAP?

    Michel Roberge

      Hi all -

I am not an ORACLE admin, so please forgive me if my question seems straightforward.

But how does this work? From what I have seen, if we configure LDAP.ora, TNS Names is typically empty and system will rely on LDAP.ora. Does it mean that the TNS_ADMIN variables should point to the LDAP.ora file? Or should the TNSNames.ora file contains some reference to LDAP.ora? Or should this automagically work?

I have followed all instructions there:

      http://kb.tableau.com/articles/howto/setting-an-oracle-connection-to-use-tnsnames-ora-or-ldap-ora

And I still get error ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified.

I think it's something to do with that variable, but I can't figure it out.

      Thanks!

      Michel
