Shape files to Polygons (Perimeter only)

    Scott Steahl

I pulled GIS data from HUD and using the process outlined in the Create Tableau Polygons from Shapefiles document, I transformed it into a data set that had shapeid, lat, long, and pathid.

When I threw it into Tableau performance was pretty slow.  Then I realized that when I do a filled map, that it isn't performing like a normal filled map.  By using tool tips it doesn't recognize it as a polygon but it has a data point for every point within the interior.

Is there a way in the process of preparing the shapefile data for Tableau polygons to have it only have the data points for the perimeters of the polygons?  I think this will drastically reduce the data set size and increase performance.

      Thank you!
