Anna Cheetham Feb 13, 2017 7:48 AM (in response to Genevieve Marcil)Do you mean it is cutting the text short when connecting to/reading the data?
Or the full value is in the data in Tableau but is not displaying fully on a worksheet or dashboard?

Hi Genevieve,
Tableau doesn't automatically resize cells to fit their contents, so we have two options:
1) We can use the Fit drop-down on the toolbar to Fit Width, Fit Height, or fit Entire View and have Tableau use all the space available.
2) We can manually resize. There's a one- or two-pixel wide target on the border between headers that you can click and drag (your cursor will turn into either an up-and-down arrow or left-and-right-arrow) to widen headers.
One thing to keep in mind is that tooltips will automatically resize. So when I've cells with a varying amount of text (for example notes on on-the-job accidents & injuries) I might put a calculated field that is truncated to 77 characters + ellipses in a text table and size the text table so that it can always display those 78 characters and then have the full text of the note as a pill on the Tooltip shelf.
