One of my SQL Server machines has a 'Failover Partner'. The DBA told me to change the ODBC string into "SERVER=DBSRV17.company.corp;Failover Partner=DBSRV18.company.corp;DATABASE=FNQPHQ;INTEGRATED SECURITY=SSPI;"
I have never setup ODBC strings, so ... Anyone hints ??
Specifying the string may be doable, but seems too custom. Instead, can you ask your DBA to setup a VIP that points at both the primary (as active) and the failover (as passive). And then your Tableau workbook can point at the VIP. This is what we have done with many of our database connections and it works quite well.
