It looks like you will need to JOIN your data to itself, so that you end up with 3 columns:
- [Player Id] (use as the JOIN key)
- [Event Id]
- [Other Event Id] (based on [Event Id] from the second copy of the data)
At that point, you will find that it is easy to create a matrix of participation.
How do you go about joining data into itself? I can only find joining two separate data sources.
If your data source is a file, like an Excel workbook, just open the workbook, and then drag the sheet onto the data field twice:
Then define the join:
If your data is in a DBMS, the interface to select your table will look a bit different, but it's the same principle: just drag that table out onto the field twice to initiate a JOIN.
