# How to show the sum of values in a different color in a color filter when no filter is active?

I have a color filter like this. But i want to display the total sum of 600 in a different color( say Black) when no filter is active, instead of showing as 3 different values as in the second picture. Can anyone please help on this?

Assuming that your letters are values in a field called [Category], you could use COUNTD([Category]) to count the number of values selected in the filter, then adjust the color accordingly with something like:

[Color] : IF COUNTD([Category]) = 3 THEN "All Categories Selected" ELSE ATTR([Category]) END

Hi Stephen,

But is it possible to display the numerical value in different colors when filter is active in this case? If possible can you please explain with attached workbook?

Sure. See the attached workbook. The formula needed a slight tweak:

IF {EXCLUDE [Sub-Category] : COUNTD([Sub-Category])}=17 THEN "Black" ELSE [Sub-Category] END
