I solved it by creating another excel spreadsheet that had both the dates and used it as a primary data source and used my(date) in relationships for blending the data .
If your primary data will update daily (or weekly), then get it published to tableau server too.
So this way it can be semi-automated.
I published the entire workbook on the server.(workbook consists one live and two excel spreadsheets, of which one is a primary data source)
Do you have any idea how to update particular columns in the excel spreadsheet on the server by the other user.

Ya, you can make the primary excel file as a live connection too and store it in a shared folder which can be accessed by Tableau Server machine. Next you can grant access to those users who will periodically update your primary excel.
This way Tableau server will always shows fresh data.
