FIrstly apologise, I'm writing this from memory on an iPad so not able to double check what I'm saying...
Yout could create a calculated field called Ref Line for example, which contains a case statement along the lines of
CASE [Filter Dimension]
WHEN 'A' THEN 100
WHEN 'B' THEN 200
WHEN 'C' THEN 300
Put this field onto the Detail shelf, changing the aggregation to MIN (I think)
When you add a reference line to the chart, you should be able to see the Ref Line field as an option to select in the dialog presented.
Hope that helps / gets you going.
Let me know if you sort it, otherwise I'll try to sort an example for you.
Thanks for the reply. I think that is what I want to get at. The problem is that A, B, C, D, E are groupings that I have created. I don't think that it is an actual dimension. I see where you're getting at though. I can actually make a bunch of "OR" Statements.
A,B,C I have manually grouped values.
If you're able to use v10, then you can use custom groups in calculated fields. However, I have managed to do something similar in v9 using sets to drive the reference line (you'll still need to create the custom group as well to drive your filter control).
Packaged workbooks attached (created in v9.0 and v10.1)
Hope they help.
